As coaches, our choice of diagnostics is huge. But often we have to make trade-offs between depth, validity, cost and ease of use. Many of us revert to our favorite one or two assessments.
I had this experience myself….I used Jungian based typing tools because my clients like the ease of use and simplicity of the model. I preferred trait based tools because I could stand behind their research evident and statistical validity. But they were only ok when the client had the budget and the time to invest in the interpretation and debrief.
It was exactly these trade-offs that prompted Stewart Desson, the originator of Lumina Spark, to turn his research attention to developing a way of measuring personality that combines simplicity with the research depth of trait-based psychometrics.
